Yes it does. So i have a device to view this hard drive in another computer and copy all my files over so i am considering doing this then reinstalling windows 7. The disc that I am borrowing is a genuine one so if i choose the install option when it boots to the disc, can i use the existing product key? alternatively as it is a toshiba, if i press f2 when starting will this reinstall windows?

Then you have an installation which may require special steps to repair, checking first for infection which can prevent repair, then manually attempting to System Restore, Repair System Files, and other steps given.

If it repairs you need to remember to turn on System Restore. Ask for help if needed.

You need to run Malwarebytes in Safe Mode or Windows Defender Offline from boot disk or stick now, before attempting to repair System files.
