taskbar showing just two icons; help!

After changing my keyboard settings, something happened with my taskbar so that it only shows two pinned icons, and I have to use these up and down arrow keys to scroll through the rest. This is incredibly annoying, as I can't figure out how to make it show all the icons again. My ThinkCentre button is hogging up the whole task bar, and any right clicks in the giant empty spaces right next to it will bring up options for the ThinkCentre.

    See image:

    Help is appreciated!

    Hello Yihwan,

It looks like you need to unlock your taskbar, drag the dotted lines separator just to the left of the blue circle icon (far right one) over to the left to decompress the other icons until the arrows to the right of the Chrome icon go away. After you get the icons dragged into the position you want, you can lock the taskbar again.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    yihwan,
I never view pics from a 3rd party site. Others are more trusting than I am.

However, I've attached, using Sevenforums paperclip, a snapshot of a full taskbar. Where there is a yellow and a red marker are arrows. By cliking on the down arrow I go to a display like you had.

Between your task bar and the system bar on the right-hand side, do you see a faint vertical bar with an up and a down arrow. That will switch you between you two and a full bar. this is a way that Win 7 handles more icons that there is space. I'll wager that if you reduced the number of icons, you would find that the overflow problem is gone.

I had that problem too. The solution is to remove the Lenovo button from the taskbar. Here is how: Remove or Disable Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox Toolbar (Fix Wrong Location or Big Icon) « My Digital Life

After you have removed it, you can put it back afterwards and the taskbar is well behaved.
