problems with "dual monitor" program and mouse changing screens...

    hello all,

using "dual monitor" software program. mouse would switch screens with my two monitors. replaced one monitor with a new one - now mouse will not move from screen to screen unless the setting is "duplicate displays". If i choose "extend displays", the mouse will not switch. I can see on the second screen an update window from the "dual monitor" program but cannot move the mouse over to that screen.

one monitor is on dvi and the other on vga but that was not a problem with the old monitor.

suggestions? I am considering a stand alone graphics card with dual dvi.

Not the proper answer to your question obviously, but the best (most probably) program to manage multiple displays is DisplayFusion. You may try it. Usually it satisfies the users.
DisplayFusion: Multi-Monitor Taskbar, Multi-Monitor Screen Savers, HotKeys, Multi-Monitor Wallpaper, Windows Logon Changer and more!

    regarding display fusion....

far as I can tell from reading their site, most of the features they brag about are not actually available on the free version except for wallpaper management lol.....

Yes unfortunately it is true that it is a premium program.

Sometimes uninstalling and reinstalling a program may recover the program misfunctions. You may try it on your program in use.

yes, thanks for the suggestion though.

the problem is that the mouse cursor will not jump to the other screen and I cannot drag windows to the other screen. dual monitor is not useful if I cannot drag between screens

    doh! found solution by accident....

on the "change monitor display "screen the monitors are 1 -> 2

but as they actually sit on my desk the arrangement is 2 -> 1

so I rearranged the monitors in "change display" to 2 -> 1 and now things are back to useful.
