Saving location menu weirdness

Hi, I noticed a problem when scanning a file from my Canon scanner. When it asks where to save the file in Windows 7, I am only given the choice of saving it in user space. In other words, only in documents/desktop/downloads/etc. I cannot, for example, save it to my second hard drive or a network drive.

This behavior also happens when I try to create a shortcut on the desktop. When I go to specify where the shortcut should point to, it only allows me to choose destinations within the user's folder.

Is there any way I can get it to show ALL locations on the computer?

Thanks

If You installed a software for the scanner , go to it's settings and see if it gives a choice for a saving destination.

That's the problem. When I go to do that, I'm only given the user folder and subfolders.

I thought it was a Canon problem until I tried to create a shortcut on the desktop and got the same deal.

You could try running a sfc/scannow to check for/repair any corrupted system files. SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
