Windows 7: System autoboots in sleep/hibernate

System autoboots in sleep/hibernate

So I just recently found out how to activate hibernate on my Windows through this site. At first I had hybrid on, so I set hibernate to activate after 30 minutes. I'd set it to sleep and then go to bed, in hopes it'd hibernate during the night. I noticed though that some mornings when I awoke, my computer was already running, at the log in screen, as if I had powered it up. A bit after that, having trouble sleeping one night, I heard my computer start itself up about 20 minutes after I put it to sleep and realized my computer was randomly starting itself up, sometimes (not consistent in duration of sleep). I recently learned I have to shut off hybrid to get the hibernate option in the shut down menu, did so, and tested it, but when I click hibernate, my system goes through the power down sequence, and upon completion, IMMEDIATELY powers back up. I'm at a loss. I'd like to be able to power down at night without closing down everything I'm working on, but I'd really like to not have my computer running all night. I appreciate any help anyone can give.

Ok, still have things to test, but since I shut off hybrid sleep, my computer won't sleep at all. Before, it would at least sleep for a bit, sometimes the entire night. Now it doesn't sleep for more then 15 seconds. In addition, on that link there is a way to see what last woke up the computer... according to that, nothing woke my computer. It says Wake History Count -1 but Wake Source Count - 0. I'm at a loss.

Did you check the BIOS settings in Step 3 of the tutorial to make sure Wake on Ring and Wake on Lan are disabled?

Another thing you can check is to see if there any Requests that might cause sleep issues.
From an Elevated command prompt type this command:
powercfg -requests

If anything other than "None" is returned, post back the results.
I didn't see this command in the tutorial, but it's something easy to check...

Hi Rho,
It might be that you have also to change the makers power config settings as well,
Toshiba/dell etc.
They all seem to have them nowadays

The tutorial should resolve it. You can test each fix by setting Sleep at 1 minute and Hibernate at 2 minutes.

If not the issue is almost always resolved by the Display adapter driver. So run optional Windows Updates now to see if one is queued, then the display adapter's website. if the latest doesn't work then roll back to an earlier one or search on the web.

I see you have a custom build but if perchance this PC is actually factory OEM then the crapware they lard onto the Power Options is also always suspect, and you never really have Win7 anyway until it is Clean Reinstalled.
