Small blue icons on some desktop icons?

I think it may have something to do with permissions because I just changed a lot for my account, but here it is:
On the desktop, apparently they only appear on programs or shortcuts, are small little blue emblem things pasted onto the original icons. They look like envelopes or something. Does anyone know what these are and how do I remove them? They don't directly disrupt anything I'm doing, I would just like them off because they are annoying.

EDIT: I just did something else, not sure what, but now some of them are displaying google Chrome emblem on the original icons! Someone please help.

Hmm, it appears to have stopped when I logged off for some reason... That was really strange, I've never seen something like that.
