Windows Easy transfer can't transfer files from a 64-bit computer to a

I recently purchased a WD Passport external Harddrive, and have attempted to use it with transferring files from a laptop running Windows 7 32-bit to a desktop running Windows 7 64-bit. Windows Easy Transfer won't allow me to do this, giving me the error msg: "Windows Easy transfer can't transfer files from a 64-bit computer to a 32-bit computer"

My question is...Is there any way around this OS conflict? (So that I can still use my external HD to transfer files between computers)

If it's just document, pictures, music, etc. You could just use the drag and drop method and move them to the second computer like that.

Might want to take a look at a tool called USMT

    1) User State Migration Tool 4.0 User's Guide

       Note
Its a command line driven tool to back up user files from x86 to x64, x86 to x86 , and x64 to x64

       Warning
It will not work backwards x64 to x86

Yes...but are you saying to just "not use" the external Hardrive at all? Opting instead to hook the 2 computers together via usb cable? It kinda makes the purchase of the WD Hardrive a waste of time and money...which shouldn't be the case really.

If you have a home network, you can use the USMT to copy your 32bit user profiles to a shared drive on your network and use the USMT to restore your user profiles to the new 64bit OS
