DLL errors. Dxdiag won't open, DXDIAGN.dll error

    Hello,

I am having a lot of problems with DLL errors.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1

It started with Windows Live Movie Maker, I tried to run it and it came up with an error saying "failed to access d3d10_1core.dll". So I researched the problem and did the following:

    1. Reinstalled Movie Maker from the Microsoft website
    2. Reinstalled DirectX from Microsoft website
    3. Updated nvidia graphics card drivers to the latest ones
    4. Virus scan with Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes [all clean]
    5. Checked Recycle bin for the missing dll [it wasn't there]
    6. Run sfc/ scannow in CMD. This found corrupted files but could not fix some of them.
    7. Updated windows to the latest updates [Internet Explorer 10 refuses to install, constantly fails]
    8. Tried all the previous steps in Safe Mode
    9. Tried a system restore point but that just FAILED too

Nothing has worked. In fact Movie Maker no longer opens and other programs won't work either.

I browsed the web a bit more and someone said to check dxdiag for some information but that won't start either. It said the same error "failed to access d3d10_1core.dll". If I try to access it now it has a different error. A window states... " Error: Could not load DXDIAGN.dll"
Adobe Premiere Pro also will not open, error = "HandlerAudioMiniMixer.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error."

Any help would be much appreciated as this is really starting to annoy and worry me!

    Thank you

Yes. It is an upgrade disc that took my Windows XP to Windows 7. Will this be ok?

Ok I tried to follow the steps but when it came to "12. Windows will now check for any compatibility issues. If any are found like in the example below, take care of them first then restart the repair install process over again." My compatibility issue was that I cannot reinstall because my version of Windows is newer than the disc. ?? The only thing I could then do was press close which stopped the process.

I'm going to start backing all my stuff up as I might end up doing a new install. No one has been able to help me across a few forums so it is looking doubtful of being fixed!
