    Windows does not boot sometimes

    Hi,

So since today my windows sometimes does not start. I power on the pc go to the toilet only to see the screen is stuck on the blinking underscore _ before you see the loading windows screens. So when I startup my screen I see the motherboard info picture, then the hdd initiate screen where it shows the hdd just fine and then a blinking _ where shortly after windows should appear. However sometimes it doesn't.

Anyone have any solutions? I got 2 hdd's so when it is needed I can backup and everything no problem. I would just like to start with the easy solutions. I'll clean my pc of dust and see if the hdd is properly tightened in my case and if the cables are stuck firmly.

Unplug the other HD and make sure Win7 HD is detected in BIOS setup and is set first HD to boot. Then if it doesn't start boot into System Recovery Options to run Startup Repair a few times. Report back what it says.

If that doesn't work you'll need to work through the steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start.

The steps try everything possible to get it started, leading up to if necessary rescuiing your files to run Factory Recovery or get the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Ok, thanks for the advice :) I will run checkdisk tonight and I will unplug my 2nd hdd which I barely use anyway. I will let you know how it goes on.

First go into the BIOS make sure HDD is the first boot device. Also make sure you don't have any external devices plugged in while you start your system. Devices such as pen drives/external HDDs have the potential to stop Windows from booting when plugged in.

Also search a bit in your BIOS and find the "ACPI" option if you can and make sure it is enabled.
