Will a win 8 disk repair 7 boot

    Hey guys,

Messed up big time, powered down from in 7 while it was updating and now PC won't boot, it just goes round in an endless loop of selecting to boot from the HDD and then getting thrown straight back out.

I was running a win7 with win8 dual boot system (8 installed most recently) and I still have the install DVD for 8, but not for 7 as I misplaced it some time ago.

Will running the "repair your computer" thingy from in the 8 installer repair the boot for the entire dual boot, or just for 8 ?

    Thanks

    Hi there
    'Fraid not.

I don't recommend it but you could download one "From the wild" just to boot and REPAIR system. After repair scan it carefully for any malware as you never know with torrents.

I really would be VERY wary of this type of solution -- but "When needs must" - especially you shouldn't have to pay AGAIN for a Windows 7 DVD.

BTW ALWAYS archive / backup stuff -- small 2TB self powered external HDD's are really cheap -- there isn't ANY excuse not to archive old software like OS DVD's.

When you are up and running -- BACKUP THE OS -- let this be a lesson for you --I'm still surprised that people after all the warnings on these and other Forums about not having backups people STILL fail to take these.

    Cheers
