stopping unrequested grey box with word next and two arrows in it

Recently I have an annoying grey box with the word 'NEXT' and two arrows pointing left and right popping up on my Win 7 touchscreen all-in-one. Googling came up with the suggestion that it had something to do with the mouse. Haven't been able to stop it from appearing. Any ideas, please.

I hope that I have banished the equally annoying on-screen keyboard and handwriting popups by turning off the Tablet PC Input Panel. Fingers crossed.

Another annoyance are frequent 'bursts' on the screen possibly referring to something going on in the background, sometimes accompanied by a little beep.

Also, I have found the cursor to be bit temperamental, sometimes jumping away from where I am keying.

All of this is recent and a bit worrying. Has something unwanted or even nasty started this circus?

Any help with all this would be very gratefully received.

    It is a Sony 23-inch i7 all-in-one running Win 7 Home Premium.

Several 'bursts' have popped up as I am keying this!

PS - I am an old geezer too.

Now as we don't have nay specs I have to assume you have security on this machine? Has it not come up with anything on a scan and you could try these.

A scannow could also be worth try too

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Several malware checkers have reported nil.
But there is something going on. Something wants to move the cursor away from where I am typing, switch to a previous screen when online, change 100% view to 250%, and pop up the Next box and create busts at various parts of the screen.

The straying cursor is widely reported as a Win 7 thing.

Now here's the thing. The previous post was not my decision. It just happened before I was finished without a keystroke from me. Even took out a para space. Worrying.
