Can Microsoft Force us to Windows 8

    Hey guys

i was just wondering because my friend and me had an argument over windows 7 and windows 8, and he menchoned windows 8 having an exclusive direct 11.1 feature now. this had me wondering, and abit concerned since i love windows 7.

Can microsoft force us to windows 8 with directx 11.1 via deal's with game developers to develop for it, and compatability etc

Even though today, most games still support directx 9 and windows XP, there are a phew games heading down the road of DX10/11 only. but it has taken quite a phew year's for that to even be a consideration

So yeah, im curious. if microsoft will even attempt to find a way to force us to windows 8

They will try anything they can think of to force users onto win8.

A lot of people aren't getting it willingly.

Well, gaming isn't the most important thing on life, if they have a deal with some games company to only use DX11.1, well, i won't buy that game, and they'll be the loosers.

If people was boycotting such things, we wouldn't face this risk. It's up to the people to be sheeps or not.

    They can.

    MS have a monopoly.

When people need to buy a new laptop - they buy something with windows on it.

A miniscule number might try Linux - unknown to the general public. A small number can afford a Mac.

Everybody else - that is well over 90% have to get something with windows on it.

Soon there will only be win 8 on the affordable machines.

Yeah. Using this method, they are already forcibly selling Windows to millions of users who buy new machines. Most machines come with an ''unremovable'' option of Windows as the OS, no matter if the buyer wants it or not.

But as per that gaming thing...umm...can those Redmond guys do that bad?

I don't know what you are all worrying about. If in the future you need to buy a new PC and it has Win 8 pre installed then just use the available free software to make the OS work just like Win 7 but better and faster. Don't be afraid of change, it's what makes the world go round.

    Here endeth today's lesson!!

Until MS releases some "Critical Security" patches, which "accidentally" disable them.

MS can't force you to do anything! I would use Linux over Windows 8.

Microsoft as a company has two roads to travel on this subject.
Make a product that draws people to the product OR force people to the product. I think they are on the fence at the present time. Trying this and that and see what happens.

I can't remember a time that Microsoft has ever stated publicly of ever making a product that wasn't great.

I can see something like this coming from Microsoft.

**Because of the wonderful response we have received from our customers of Windows 8 who use personal computers we have decided to improve on the all ready wonderful personal computing experience and user friendly methods and go to a new higher level of user friendly for our great customer who use Windows 8 on their personal computers at home and work.**

Then I believe we will get a choice of the look and use of a cell phone or the use and look of a PC.
At least this is my hope.
