Cant install Core Temp as it needs to be online to do so.

It just ran through the startup repair process and has booted properly.

The only problem I see now is that the wifi adapter no longer works ... will just leave it on for a few hours now (if I can).

Update: it stayed on overnight and has only shutdown once this morning. The system restore worked and services and startup items are running again, I've uninstalled Avast anti-virus though as that wouldn't start up.

The problem now is that the wifi adapter no longer works (I think this may have been the cause of the original problem).

Machine is a Lenovo Ideapad S200
Wifi adapter is an Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter

In device manager it shows as installed properly but the wifi icon shows a red cross - running troubleshooting diagnostics tells me "wireless capability is turned off"

I have reset BIOS values to default and reinstalled the drivers but to no avail.

Any suggestions to get wifi working again?

Update 2: It needed some Lenovo energy management software installed, then the function keys would work, then I could turn on the wifi adapter.

Core Temp reports 38 degrees on both cores.

Its running ok now so thanks again for the suggestions, will post again if it starts crashing but next time I think I'll be inclined to format the b'stard.

Its still shutting down so I guess we can mark this one as unsolvable.

    Time for a format ...
