Thanks again for the suggestions ... sfc/ scannow now complete: "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."
Tried Sys Restore and LKGC, neither worked.
Disabled all non-MS services and re-booted. Still shuts down, only now it doesn't even get to the login screen.
If it is doing it sooner, then that means whatever is causing this is loading sooner because you disabled the other services that load before it. this could be a virus or your antivirus itself. or even something in the task scheduler. Wow this is a very odd. what do you have listed in the task scheduler? could you post a snap shot?
uninstalling the lan driver is a long shot, but i have a funny feeling it would be the next driver issue to look into as well.
You may also want to go back into msconfig.exe and go to boot and select base video.
Getting some progress - went into msconfig and turned off everything.
Re-booted and its been on now for ten minutes ...
Will leave it for an hour, then slowly start turning things back on again to find the culprit.
Will post findings here. Great forum BTW, posted on Tom's and didn't get a single response after two days!
OK .. no joy, back to square one - took its time this time but shut off again.
All non MS services and everything in msconfig startup is off.
