    in W 7 the folder win/winsx is big


    Hello
    in the subfolder winsx there is a big lot of folders am64...Can I delete some?
    When MS update where goes all the KBxxxxx?

    If I were you, I would not mess with the WinSxS folder because it contains system files. This is a link that may help you understand the folder better (why it's there and what it does): Disk Space - Engineering Windows 7 - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

    If you have a 320GB or greater HDD then I wouldn't worry about the space anyways, as it's such a small percentage and a necessary folder for the way Windows is setup. This article refers to Windows Vista, but it applies to Windows 7 as well, Vista is just the OS in which they added this functionality.

    No, you should NOT delete anything in there. This folder contains many core windows components, etc. that make Windows run.

    When you install updates, different files are updated at various places inside the Windows folder and the backup of older versions are stored inside winsxs folder (many of them inside the winsxs/backup folder).

    You should not worry about this folder. The size of this folder is not actually what it shows up but much lesser because lots of hard links are used inside this folder.
