    Windows+D shortcut fickle behavior

Sometimes when I have apps open and need to toggle between two of them, the Windows+D shortcut behaves unsteadily.

For instance, let's say I have Google Chrome, Word, and some other app(s) running. Then I save some image from the Web on my desktop. I compose an e-mail in Gmail and hit Windows+D to go to the desktop to select that image to drag onto my Gmail message to make an attachment.

If I have only Chrome/Gmail open, it is easy to use Windows+D to toggle between the desktop and the browser. The problem is when there are more apps running.

What happens most of the times is that Windows seems to "forget" where the toggling operation began, so it annoyingly makes me go, say, to Word, then somewhere else until I get back to Gmail again.

It seems to me it's some conflict with the task switcher.

Any ideas why that happens and how to fix it?

N.B.: I don't want to install any third party stuff, I want to fix it in Windows, via Registry hacks or whatever. TIA.

Just tested this. Doesn't show such fickle behavior in my case.

This might help if your keyboard is like mine.
Two keys to the right of the space bar shows a stack of pictures (pages). Press it and you should get a choice of what page to go to next.

Alt+Tab key combination works great too.
