Search Results window "spams" itself (it opens many times)

Good day everyone! My problem here deals with the Search Results window, it "spams" itself unintentionally. First, I've encountered this problem moments ago when I turned on my PC. And during startup, suddenly, lots of windows of Search Results began to pop out! I tried to solve my problem by my own means, when I scanned my computer, it showed no virus at all. I also searched some related problems like this on the internet but found none.

Please help! It is very irritating already, because it does not only happen on startup but also occasionally, especially when it's lag. I also noticed that some keys like the Ctrl, Shift, Tab and the mouse click itself when pressed triggers this bug. There is also like a bug like thing that happens in my web browsers; the latter keys mentioned can cause sudden malfunctions like the auto appearnce of the Find (Ctrl F) and some upper case keys cannot be accessed through Shift.

PLEASE HELP! I AM BECOMING HELPLESS WITH THIS PROBLEM! It is a very big hindrance to me especially when I do graphic designing and programming.

Hi anobilisgorse welcome to Seven Forums.

Did you do any updates on your pc with drivers or software? What anti virus are you running?

Also try to run sfc /scannow under command prompt

Start - cmd - (right click on cmd) run as administrator - Type the following command - sfc /scannow

    Thank you for such recognition.

Umm, last time I checked, when I used this PC on the first time (when I came back days ago) since the last time I used it (a semester ago) there was no bugs like these that happened. Then, the next thing I did was I inserted an external hard drive that is owned by my classmate, and she said there was a virus on it (that kind of virus that creates shortcuts and hides folders, sort of like that, I dunno what it's called). But when I ran a scan on it, I found none. And when I opened this PC once again the following day, there it was.

There were updates, but those were from my programs and OS (Windows update, Steam, iTunes(?), Tune Up Utilites). Btw, I'm using avast Antivirus. :)

Okay2, I'll try to do what you've said. Thanks. I'll report to you as soon as I've done it.

After I followed your instructions, this is what cmd said:
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Aaaaaaaand, so far, no "spams" appeared. I dunno if it worked or not, but what I'm quite sure is the "spams" only shows up during startup and occassional "lag sessions". And so, I cannot say that things went out okay, by so far. xD

But, thank you so much for that Sir! First, I would like to ask what do you mean by "system restore"? I'm familiar with that but I've got no clues how to do that process.

What does this system restore do? I haven't performed it yet . . . . and also, sorry I was unable to reply yesterday, there's a "shortage of electricity" crisis here in our region and it is only now that I've turned on my PC since the last brownout.

It restores your pc to a ealier time. By default windows makes it own. So when you go to system restore you will be able to pick a certain date to restore your pc to

    Hello anob,

Is there any special key marked "Search"/"Find" or marked with a magnifying glass picture on your keyboard? If yes, could you check if the key works and is not stuck? Also check if the "F" and F3 key are working and not stuck. These keys are related to find/search function.

A virus can infect any and ever thing including a restore point. I would suggest going here and getting help with the infection by some very good people.

Until you computer is known to be free of infection nothing else maters.
