    Windows 7 Library Woes

I have recently purchased a new internal hard drive for my desktop computer, and have moved my Photos, Music and Videos across to it. I've redirected the windows libraries to the appropriate folders on the new drive. All is working fine, apart from the fact that when viewing a library and arranging the entries by anything other than 'folder' no files are visible on the new drive. Having done a bit of research I have ensured that my security and sharing options are appropriate, that file contents are being indexed and that the windows search service is running. My conclusion is that Windows 7 is reluctant to build or search an index of metadata on what it regards as a remote drive. Is this likely to be the case? Has anyone else come across this problem and if so can they offer a solution ?

There are two basic ways to move a User folder to another partition, both shown in User Folders - Change Default Location.

To avoid moving the User System file to another partition thus making it a system partition, use the Library method shown in the yellow info box.

Hi gregrocker - Thank you very much for your post. Unfortunately I think the script that you have directed me to was the one I followed when I set up my folders (ie. Option 2 which just moves selected folders). If I navigate to My Music folder via my user profile it comes up fine and takes me into the music folder on my second disk drive. If I go in via My Music library arranged by Folder I see all my artists folders plus the sample music from the Public music folder and again the navigation works fine. However if I change the Arrange By option to anything other than Folder, eg. Artist, I only see the entries from Public music. The same thing also happens for pictures when ordered by date. I assume there is some sort of metadata indexing going on it the background which for some reason isn't working for me.
