Windows Explorer shuts down like everyone else with a solution now

I've had the same problem as others, with Win Explorer shutting down, trying to rotate landscape pictures to portrait, or moving files, copy and pasting files from a drive, etc. So frustrating

    I think I found a solution:
I have tried everything everybody said to try with my dell win 7 system. No luck till now.
Frustrated last night, with the error I get from copy/paste blowups,

I right clicked on the folder my files I was trying to copy from & then and paste somewhere else.

    1. I selected Properties from the drop down box,
    2. THen selected the TAB Customize
    3. I then changed this folder to Documents from General Files and clicked ok.

Miraculously, I can copy and paste with no more Windows Explorer shut down messages.

So i tried the same thing with a folder with my granddaughters graduation pictures in. I was trying to rotate the landscape pics to portrait, so I can do a slide show or movie for her. By selecting the same options except changing the folder optimazation to pictures, rotate works flawlessly and no Windows Explorer errors.

As a former IT guy, 20 some years in administrating an entire college operations, here is what I think.

Newer Win explorer the way it is created, needs to know what type of files are in a folder structure to function. Just my guess, otherwise why would this work above. It maybe how under 7 and maybe Vista and most likely win 8, that is the structure. So I've change all my folder optimizations accordingly, adn I have absolutely no problems with cut n paste functions, rotating pictures, etc.

    The options under optimization are:
    General Files
    Documents
    Picture
    Music
    Videos

Give it a try and see how it works for you.

    good luck greg
