I not very knowledgeable about such things but I do wonder why a hard drive would require Fat 32.
It's not the hard drive giving the requirement, but the device trying to read the drive. I'd prefer to use NTFS as well, but it sounds like the DVR needs a more universal format.

I want to format a USB stick to play music in my car. Everything I've read in the Honda forum says to use a Fat32 format. Is this possible in Win7? I don't see this option when I try to format it.
Thanks
I have a 500GB external Hard Drive that I need to use at home with my Windows 7 PC and at school where I use a Mac.
I know NTFS is for Windows only and I know FAT32 works on both Windows and Mac.
However I have been unable to format my external hard drvie to FAT32. Only to exFAT which doesnt...
Okay, So I was about to transfer some data onto my 64GB Toshiba flash drive, until I tried opening it. It said it needed to be formatted, so I did! I did a full format and it said "Windows was unable to complete the format". I looked it up and people were saying to go into disk management and...
I connected a new Intenso 2,5" Memorystation 320 GB USB drive and struggled somewhat to get W7 Pro 64-bit to recognize it. Eventually it did and I copied about 20 GB of folders as back up.
All fine but every now and then, while copying, I see a pop-up "Are you sure you want to copy this file...
