Installation files are frequently corrupted, and movies won't play.

Well I tried to prepare the repair files, and no surprises as I've encountered yet another error, this time with the USB/DVD installer.

The extent of the errors is now getting beyond ridiculous, I can't do anything. Apologies if you were offended by me installing AVG again, I just want to be temporarily protected until I can resolve the Microsoft Security Essentials issue.

EDIT: I've sorted it now, it's because I had previously installed MemTest86+ to the device, I formatted the device manually and now it's working.

Short of reinstalling you could Clean Up Factory Bloatware to regain as much performance as one can get with a corrupt factory preinstall.

Then run SFC /SCANNOW Command three times to see if it can repair damaged System files.

If not the last resort before Clean Reinstall is a Repair Install.

Ironically it would be faster to do the Reinstall and if you follow the steps closely you'll have a perfect install, better than 99% of other users.
Right, so I get into the install but when I attempt to upgrade I get this error message.

This is exactly what I mean when I say everything I download is corrupted, this is apparently down to a corrupt ISO, so if the ISO is fine then it's related to my original problem.

Can you download and write the installer on another PC?

If it fails again use UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive

Can you find and burn a DVD to try that?

I don't have access to another PC until morning, then I may be able to use my Mothers laptop, I'm currently trying to download again because that's the only option I have at the moment, but I'm disabling AVG this time. I don't have access to any DVD to burn it onto at the moment either.

I tried two fresh downloads, and still got the same problems, I will try a different PC in the morning and see how that goes, hopefully that will reveal the nature of the problem.

Have you made all preparations and back up given in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

You'll get and keep a perfect install as long as you stick with the tools and methods provided.

Be sure to delete all partitions during booted install, create and format new as you wish or just click Next to let the installer do it for you.

I'm pretty much ready to go ahead with it, but do you want me to try the repair download from another PC first or not? The thing is that I don't have anything to back up a huge amount of data, so I can't make a backup image of the entire system, and the repair install was corrupt so what's to say that the complete install won't be? Considering that it's from the exact same ISO.

As an update, I attempted to use that software and it failed at the exact same point, I could ask a relative if he has a DVD to spare as he works in tech support, but I wouldn't be able to get it from him for a good few days anyway, and I'm hoping to resolve it sooner.

Okay, so I downloaded the file on another system and setup the USB/DVD installer, it got a little bit further, but still failed when copying files with the same error message every time, the point at which it fails is always in copying files, but the percentage varies sometimes, so it's not the download that is corrupted, it's my system that can't use them, now I really don't know what to do, is this hinting toward a faulty hard drive?

If it means anything, I do have a spare HDD downstairs in an old computer that we no longer use due to a busted GPU, so if you need me to do any tests on a different HDD then that's a possibility, although I wouldn't know how to use it considering it has it's own OS installed to it.
