Computer is stuck in Windows Resume Loader

I plugged that thing in just about every port and I am in touch with Dell about not getting any instructions or software with the unit. I did think about the board being defective, but I tried my old board, which was and is still operational, and that didn't work either. Thanks

I did re-install my old board which was working, just OK, before I got the new one. I still get the same result which is stuck on Windows Resume Loader.

Power down your PC, unplug and drain power by holding the power button, then as I already told you choose one of the steps to manually reset the CMOS in the tutorial. This may resolve the keyboard issue.

None of the steps I gave you depend upon booting into Win7 which is when any Resume error would appear. You just have to be quick enough with good timing to trigger F12 at the first BIOS screen before the OS is even called upon, to trigger Dell Diagnostics and then the Win7 DVD. If your keyboard won't be recognized by tapping f12 use another.

Once you do this reboot into the Win7 DVD which is provided in the Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start. tutorial to run Startup Repair a few times and then if necessary System Restore from the Recovery options.

Clear CMOS. I believe that the only jumper on the board is a little blue plastic slip-on that is about 3/8" square. It is situated on 2 of three pins. If that is it, how do I short-out, what pins, etc. I already removed the battery which I am told is probably just to keep the clock running I believe it's a CR2032. Next thing, I did Power down the PC as you instructed and I re-booted and held down the F12 and I at least, got something new; when the logo came on, the bar underneath in that runs accross showing progress, stopped and when it resumed, the next thing I got was a cursor in the upper left hand corner blinking on a black screen. This went on for quite a while. I haven't been able to duplicate it again. Next, another thing that happens, but not all the time is when I boot, a message comes up that says; Entering Power Saving Mode. I don't know what to make of that except it might mean the Monitor.

OK, there are three pins and they align vertically. The jumper was placed on the bottom two pins and I removed it a placed in on the top two left it for about 10 secs and replaced it in the origianl position. No effect.

On another note: According to what I have read about the Inspirion 546 motherboard, the battery that I removed (CR2032) is also connected to the CMOS and when I removed it, it should have cleared the CMOS.

WE HAVE PROGRESS!!!! Apparently, the jumper that I tried is not the one. I found another alongside the battery which I removed per previous instructions and I now have a CMOS Utility Setup Screen.
