How do I put a Show Desktop icon on taskbar
I use to have an icon on my XP task-bar that would allow me to open my desktop and minimize all open programs to the task-bar. Is there a way to do that in Windows 7?

Thank you, never knew that was there.

You could change that option ( the hover option ) as it can really be annoying. You just change it so you have to click on the rectangle to see the desktop ( as it should be )
You could also add this.
Right click on Taskbar and select show Desktop. It will give you just another option.
I happen to use the vertical bar to the far right.
as said above there are two ways,
hover on the show desktop button, shows desktop but shows open windows again when the cursor is moved away,
click on the show desktop button keeps the desktop showing even when the cursor is moved away,
re clicking the button shows the windows again.
it took me over a year to realize that clicking the button kept the windows hidden, i just always hovered.
i discovered it by accidentally clicking ,
then panicked as i didn't know where the hell my open windows had gone despite frantically moving the cursor.
