Laptop isn't getting to the desktop screen

Alright guys, so I have my laptop *Dell Latitude E5420* and recently I have opened it only unplugged my CMOS Battery because I was trying to get rid of the BIOS password. After dissembling it and re-assembling it, I've turned it on it takes me to windows logo screen with the loading screen. After that I get a quick glimpse of a blue screen with codes for 1 sec then it goes black. The next screen to pop up asks me to "start windows normally" or go to "Start up repair". (Keep in mind this is after I took my laptop apart for the CMOS Battery) Of course I changed a hardware so I chose the "Start Windows Normally" option. The screen goes black and it repeats itself back to the two options. Next I tried going to the Startup Repair option and it scans for errors in my laptop and nothing was found. It shuts down after the start up repair and it still takes me back to the two option screens. I've asked a friend in college who's going into IT and he says I might have the BSOD. He suggests me to take the hard drive and change the OS of it into linux to be able to fix my situation. I, a student taking into business don't understand what my college friend in IT is seeing in my situation. My college friend in IT asks me to go into my BIOS which I accessible and see what time it is in my laptop. I realize that my laptop is 3 years behind and the time is totally off. In his research, he's found that most BSOD are occured when the Clock is off as well and I need to restore my BIOS back to factory default. Do my readers' know what's wrong with my laptop?

I have Windows Home Premium 64 bit and my laptop is mainly used for college. So no biggie to getting my laptop fixed. I have access to command prompt, restore factory, BIOS settings, Diagnostics, and probably other options

if you bios clock is showing the wrong time and date then correct it ,time and date in your area and set the bios to defaults ,also set the boot order to hard drive as first boot device, and i would ignore the friends suggestion to change the OS to linux ,

Maybe after bios reset sata mode changed back to ahci. Try to set sata mode to compatible.

When I was trying to reset the BIOS with the CMOS Battery. Supposively I've heard that's how you reset the BIOS but mine didn't work. So there for the BIOS didn't change at all because there is a password to the laptop on the BIOS. I can't change any settings in the BIOS because of that password that I don't know. I did buy the laptop myself but maybe a virus or something placed a password onto the BIOS settings. You know what I mean? It asks for an administrator password in order to change BIOS Settings.

I don't know if I should post here or not but I'd like to add something that might help you reset your BIOS. You need to take the battery out for some amount of time (maybe around 1/2 hr) and also reset the jumpers on your motherboard in order to reset it successfully.

In my first forum, there was a comment saying how even though I have unplugged the CMOS battery. It won't reset the BIOS. Take note that you shouldn't believe everything online. And about those jumpers.....I have jumpers on my laptop? I don't recall seeing any jumpers on my laptop when I took it apart.

Sorry for your troubles zilean I didn't think anything like this would happen

as was suggested by more reputable members, a call to dell might be in order to get them to set or tell you the password. my apologies 3 years here and I have never messed up anyones computer till now. I am terribly sorry

Yes Thorsen is right. You should contact your manufacturer to know the default BIOS password. I have heard that the default password can unlock a locked BIOS. Maybe this way can help you regain access to your BIOS.

the jumper will look like two pins, when you connect them with another metal, they will reset the password. this is only if there is a password jumper. I am reluctant to suggest anything that would screw up your computer more....

looking today, someone said there is a backdoor default password: Dell
I would try that password as well just in case. otherwise you can try the password jumper. you would need to look in the manual I linked to previously to see if there are any instructions there.

the jumper should look something like this and be labeled: (this is not from your board though. your's will look different)

Nah it's fine, it's about time I get myself an upgrade for my laptop :P
I've turned it in at my college's PC Clinic and I'll let them handle the situation.
