I don't understand what the Desktop folder is in this case? It's not under Libraries and not under Users, so what does it actually represent?

Here is the requested screenshot, Brink.

No I have not followed up yet on your suggestion. I am now on the road and am waiting to be back home during the week-end to do this. I may then come back to you for more information... I want to be sure that I am doing this right. Thanks again for your help.

    Pantagruel,

Your library included folders are showing the default ones, so all good there.

We'll be here when you're ready to merges the .reg files, and if you have any other questions. :)

I followed the directions re 'merging folders', (simpler than I first thought) but I still don't have a ''folder'' option in the ''New'' menu...

    Pantagruel,

When you merged the .reg files for folder and directory, did you have UAC enabled and logged in as an administrator in person at the physical computer?
Just to see if this may help reveal anything further to help, please post a screenshot showing your New context menu when you use it.

Brink, I tried to do a screenshot of the ''New'' menu, and it did contain ''Folder'' !

So I guess my problem is solved.. I don't understand why it did not worked when I checked immediately after the merge and re-start... Hope this correction will last!

Thank you so much Brink and all others who pitched in to help.

BTW I tried to click on the ''reputation'' button, but I made a mistake. I first clicked on my own post and am congratulating myself I guess. Then I clicked on yours, and got a message about spreading my congrats around...
