WorldWide Windows 7 Black-Screen-of-Death?
It seems to have started at around noon yesterday. I have about 10 Windows 7 computers I maintain for various businesses.
Each one of them, starting at around noon on the 15th, started calling me about their systems locking up and when rebooted, Windows 7 Stalls at the point where it shows a black screen and mouse, right before it shows the Windows 7 Load screen, the default screen with the flowery objects on it.
I was able to fix 5 of them by using my Windows 7 install disks, by using the restore point right before this happened. Only one of the machines, had NO restore points and I had to do a fresh install.
Was there some kind of Windows update, or maybe a virus that got distributed widely? All of the affected systems had Malwarebytes on them, and the Malwarebytes was detecting valid system files as viruses, deleting them. Was there some kind of Hijacked Malwarebytes update file?
Anyone else have this happen? I've read through some of the other posts, and I see similar scenarios the last couple of days. If this has happened to you we should gather together and try to find out what caused this.
This has even affected Windows XP - Malwarebytes deleted most of the system files on one machine, I was able to do an SFC SCANNOW on it and get most of them back.
The only common denominator on all of these systems is Malwarebytes, which I have trusted for the last 5 years or so.
OK I just looked in the Malwarebytes forum, found this:

I guarantee, anyone who is suffering from Windows 7 Boot stalling is affected by this.
Malwarebytes was not ASKING to delete the system files, - It was just DOING it.
