"access is denied' DIR > PRINT.TXT

I used an "elevated command prompt" (that is what it is named as a desktop icon)
Why is access denied?
Karen's directory printer produces an essentially blank sheet. Why is that?

I tried the redirection with other directories, and stumbled onto the reason it didn't work for the optical disk I wanted a listing of. The dir > list.txt tries to write to the disk, which of course it cannot do. It is obvious to me now, but not at first. The mystery of why Karen's directory printer produced a blank remains.
