Windows 7 Professional Start Menu Search; No Results

Please help. On my new computer, an HP Pro 3500 with a windows 7 professional 64 bit operating system and a core i5 processor, whenever I type something in the search bar on my start menu, nothing shows up and when I click "Show More Results", it says it can't locate it or I don't have permissions. I am the only one with an account on the computer.

I stopped using Windows Search long ago.

Try this instead - Will find anything on your comp in seconds.

    Everything Search Engine

You have the wrong end of the stick - this is the search box when you click , not the general Windows search.

I know exactly how to use Windows Search ( and that is what I was referring to) by going to Start and typing in request.
This program - Everything- IMO. is a much better alternative.

Nothing I say to you will make a difference.
I am not talking about rebuilding the index and using Windows to search.

I AM talking about the Windows Search when you click on the start button on the lower left of the screen. Cmd, regedit, nothing.
