I would not delete it. Are you having a problem?
It's part of Windows; default is off.
It's located in Program/Features/Turn Windows Features on or off. (Internet Information Service) I have mine un-checked.

Yes, don't delete something you don't know what it is. It could make your system unusable. It is for Internet Publishing Services, as Layback said it can be disabled with the IIS.

That folder is, by default, the public web root for the built-in Windows web server, called Internet Information Services (IIS). Anything you place on that folder is served by IIS as your web server content pages and downloads.
Do you plan to use the computer as a web server? If not, just go to Windows features and untick IIS, reboot and delete the folder afterwards if it's there.

Thank you Bear, Briton and Alejandro, I looked in Windows Features and it is un-ticked, so I'll leave it as is.

The C:\Inetpub folder and subfolders are related to the installation of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS). %systemdrive% is the default location for installation as described in Microsoft Article ID: 271071.

Go to Programs and Features and on the left hand side you will see Turn Windows Functions on and off.
You will want to navigate to where it says Internet Information Services and uncheck it.
Then hit Okay.

You're welcome mate. I had a habit of deleting "unneeded" files in XP and wrecked my system a few times, so now I leave them alone. PCs now are much more powerful and a few megabytes of "unneeded" files won't hurt anything.

I have IIS unchecked in Windows Features, but i still have a inetpub folder.
maybe some leftover from a ftp server i had running some time ago.
I'll remove it to see what happens. (i don't like a cluttered c drive).
If my system dies I'll send an update.
