    Missing Regular Blank Files

I'm running Windows 7 on a Lenovo and cannot find a new blank file. When I right click on the desk top to create a new file, the only option is a blank zip file. The regular files were there but now they are not. Anybody have any suggestions???

Dude, I did the control panel checks as suggested by the string your referenced. I'm kind of reluctant to download some of the file extension programs referenced. My problem is very similar to csxyOde and it doesn't look like things worked there either. Can you tell me what the file extension download will do to my computer?? thanks..

justatool, it states in the tutorial
       Information

The downloads below will allow you to restore the Windows 7 default registry entries and program associations of the selected file extension type.

It is safe, it merely resets to the Windows 7 default registry entries and program associations of the selected file extension type.

It has worked for some. As you can see there are several threads with this issue.

    Your the Dude

Dude...thanks a bunch. The download worked as suggested and I have the folder option back!! It must have been corrupted somehow. I loaded both the 'default folder" and the "show known file extension" Thanks again.
