Transfer more files while other files are already being transferred?

I'm copying files to an external hard drive.

A dialog window appears with the estimated time remaining.

Should I wait for it to finish before copying files, or is it ok to copy more files and have two or more dialog windows open?

    Which process is faster?

I have tried opening several file transfer boxes at the same time. It really slows then all down to a turtle craw

Having more than one copying window open is about the same as selecting that many items to copy at the same time. While it seems like it bogs because the individual windows slow, it takes the same amount of aggregate time.

I haven't seen any buggy-ness in this since Vista.
