Defraggler, from the same software publisher as CCleaner, is a nice HDD defrag solution. One option is to defrag free space. I use it on my external system back up hard drive so that all the free space is close to contiguous all the time, saving the write head from working so long and hard when my next scheduled back up happens. It may have a zero-out option for free space too, I don't recall.

Use the Windows CIPHER command to do that. This will show you how:

May I ask why you want to do this?

The only necessity to wipe data partitions is to make data unrecoverable by all but forensics methods.

It confers no performance advantage whatsoever, and is only needed therapeutically to wipe boot code on some install failures.

Data doesn't know or care whether it's being overwritten onto zeroes, ones, or zeroes and ones.

Actually , my main Seaget 1 TB hdd had shown 628 communication error between host and etc

and if in case , I have to send my 1 TB HDD for replacement to seaget , then they will give me relacement

but remember Seaget officials repair our damage HDD and resell them to customers
and they did this without secure data methods , and this may cause a trouble

bz our facebook, google cache , passwords , many info were still remain on disk , and can be recovered by bad guy

    I want safety

Then you are well-informed about the need to zero the HD to prevent data recovery by all except forensic methods. Good work.

I have come to not rely on HD Sentinel as it always seems to report errors even on HD's which are tested good. I use Crystal DIsk Info for SMART monitoring.

Have you tested the HD with the maker's diagnostics Seagate Seatools extended CD scan?
