Got mine first thing Monday morning from PC World, £45 pre ordered in July. They sent 'em out early to avoid the postal strike, full versions 32 and 64 bit Home Premium, nice curvy box.... I've never bought an OS before!
Interesting you should say that you have never bought an OS before. This is either because you have been "obtaining" them elsewhere - or have just always used the OS that came with your computer.

What made Windows 7 the one you chose to buy first?

I must also confess this is my first time at buying a OS.
Yes, ive been obtaining mine from various sources (not always from where you think) but for me, £45 for a stable OS that i dont have to worry about cracks and patches seemed worthwhile. If it had been £150 then maybe i would have waited.
Im still on 7260 so could have waited until march next year, by which time there would be the "obtainable" versions floating around.
Guess im just getting old or lazy but if something impresses me i dont mind paying for it.
    Let the flaming commence

Thanks for your honest answer. I cannot afford to run pirate software due to the nature of my work so to speak.

It seems that MS have done the right thing with all of the offers etc to get W7 for cheap as a lot more people seem to be actually paying for it this time. I don't know a single person (non-business) that paid for a copy of Vista that didn't come with their machine. On the other hand I wouldn't want to count the number that actually seem to buy buying, or plan to buy Windows 7.

Have they taken a leaf from Apple's book? (Now definitely let the flaming commence!)

Yeah, MS seem to be doing something right at the moment.

Saying that, i have 3 PCs in the house. I brought one copy of W7 so far, thats for my main PC.
one is still going to run 7260 (my sons) and i have a Netbook thats running 7260 as well.
These are both non critical and hardly get used during the week.

Come March next year i cant honestly say at this point in time ill go out and buy W7 for those boxes. I might put XP back on them, i might not.

Noooo , everyone seems to be having theirs today (if not already)...if only my crystal ball had warned my of a postal strike and not to order from Tesco

Edit: Not all is lost for buyers from Tesco, I just spoke to a customer services person who told me that all orders were being dispatched today for delivery via City Link tomorrow :)

I fitted my new Asus M3N78-VM motherboard before installing my copy of Home Premium 64-Bit. Runs like a dream :)
