I uninstalled Windows 8 back to Windows 7 on a New Laptop Issues

Yes I did it. I bought a new laptop from Best Buy and had the W7 Disk and it worked. The only problem I am having is in Device Manager, "Unknown device" The USB Ports? The right USB port works well, but the 2 on the left do not work. I tried everything. Does anyone know how I can get them to work to use my flash drive Thanks.

Everything works audio etc etc. I am determined to find it. AMD had the drivers but forgot where they were.

Follow the steps in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Most important is to first run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates after enabling Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware (Step 3) . This should update any dated drivers and provide newer ones.

As it says in tutorial an "Unknown Device" is normally a memory card of some sort. Just look on the Support Downloads webpage for your PC model for any drivers that aren't already installed. You'll see if there's USB3 or Card drivers available that aren't yet showing in Device Manager.

From what I see on net the Compaq SR5130NX comes with Vista, not Windows 8.
What is the make & model of the NoteBook, or take a look the OEM manufacturer's web site for the best drivers.

I did and even called them on the phone cause my notebook HP Pavilion G6 was still under warrenty. But he was now limited in helping me because of what I did. He could no longer help me. My wife found an adaptor at walmart, it has 1 input into working usb port and then 4 additional attatched. So my problem is solved.

Initally, the brightness function was not working and when computer sleep it would not wake up. So I had to find drivers for these. Now notebook is awesome. Still curious though in wanting to find out how to use these other usb ports on computer.

    Hi there
Try running Belarc advisor Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit, for software, hardware and security configuration information on your computer. Software license management, IT asset management, cyber security audits, and more.

This gives a load of info over what is actually on your PC -- and its free. Should help you detect what the undetermined driver is.

    Cheers
