Having Tooltip and Taskbar Thumbnail disappearing issues

    Hey all

I've been having some tooltip and thumbnail issues. These issues happen most of the time but once in a while they work for a little bit of time but then the problem crops back up.

    Here are the issues

    • When highlighting threads in forum, the tooltip rapidly appears and disappears while hoving over title.
    • When hovering over open application on the taskbar, the thumbnail view rapidly appears and disappears while hover over it.
    • When in mumble (A voice chat program) and click the comments next to users name, the comment box disappears right away).
    • When playing Neverwinter Online and these problem are happening, I am unable to play the game cause the game treats me as double-keying everything (even if i just hold a key down).

I have noticed that If I click the Taskbar first and then highlight anything while this problem is existing that the tooltips work properly (click or make anything else active and the problem is back).

I've recently reinstalled my system, pretty sure I've updated all my drivers and software updates.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you.

Welcome to Seven Forums Dragonstar. It sounds like something is taking focus, which is why clicking on the taskbar may grab focus. I'd try updating your mouse drivers. If windows supplied the drivers (no separate mouse software was installed), I'd try uninstalling the current driver, rebooting and letting Windows find the driver again. See Option Two for uninstalling ONLY the driver

Thanks for the suggestions A Guy.

I actually tried those suggestions and tons of other stuff to no avail.

But the good news is I did find the culprit finally :).

A Broken USB Headset was causing all the issues. Been using my system with a new headset for 2 straight days with no issues.

Thank you so much for your headset solution.I had the same exact problem and had a feeling it had something to do with the focus being stolen! After weeks and weeks of updating drivers, replacing keyboards, mice and countless other things, the problem was solved by a simple yank of the USB headset.
    You guys rock on here!!!
