    Computer seems to be confused

My computer seems to be confused,

    • I am unable to make new folders in documents files
    • It does not properly recognize the DVD drives, opens the same drive regardless of which one is selected and will not record to any drive

-Use Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by click on Start button , and then click on Control Panel.

-In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting.

-Under Hardware and Sound, click Configure a device.*

-If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

The only action the troubleshooter did was to ask to install a printer which I no longer own. I did reinstall the software for that printer.

Still unable to read or record to CD/DVD Drives

Still unable to make new folder

Try running sfc /scannow in a cmd prompt, this will find missing or corrupted system files and repair/replace them.

Use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7
