I've lost the ability to create folders in Windows 7

I can't create folders any longer, anywhere -- including on facebook, desktop, within existing folders. My only option is to create compressed folders. I have a Samsung laptop, Windows 7 Home Premium.

Then someone has compress the drive. I don't see what facebook has to do with creating folders on a local system. Facebook is a internet website.

Mitchell, I don't believe my drive is compressed. I followed the link you provided, and there is no indication that the drive is compressed. Edwar, my point was that I cannot create a folder anywhere. I mentioned Facebook just as an example, and I do know what Facebook is.

Thank you for your replies, I'm afraid I'll just have to muddle on.

Hello Dana, and welcome to Seven Forums.

In addition, downloading and merging the .reg files for the listed folder and directory options in the tutorial below may be able to help. It will restore the default associations and registry entries for these items.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

    Hope this helps, :)

Thank you all so much! The scan indicated no errors, and Shawn's advice to download and merge the .reg files worked and restored my folder options. Very happy.
