Win 7 starts search process when folder is opened

When I open a folder in Windows 7, it appears that it searches the folder before displaying the contents. I have very large drives and some folders contain very many files & subfolders, so this is very time consuming. Is there any way to stop this behavior?

If you are talking about picture folders there's an easy workaround to open folders and show their contents faster. Simply open the folder properties and select file type as General items instead of default Pictures:

right click on folder. Is text "Open" bold and on top? Click on "Open". Now it works?

Well, these two items seem to make opening quicker, but I can't tell if its just coincidental. I'll post after I work like this for a while.

    Thanks!

LATER Well, neither of these solved the problem. Windows 7 is still performing unwanted "searches"when I open a folder.

Admittedly, I rarely remember to Right click & choose open.
