    execute.exe doesn't load in task manager

    The only way I can get my safe mode to load is to go into the task manager and add execute.exe as a new task. Can anyone help me please. Thank you.

    I don't understand the context of this question. Can you elaborate some more?

    There is no file named "execute.exe" in Windows 7 with the possible exeception of a rogue file. Additionally, Safe mode is a troubleshooting option for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. The words Safe Mode appear in the corners of your monitor to identify which Windows mode you're using. Safe mode is not run within the standard Windows environment, but is an alternative method of running Windows.

    I really have no idea what you are trying to accomplish by running in Safe mode and you are not implementing the process correctly. See the following article for some directions;

    Start your computer in safe mode

    Thank you for your responses. Here's my total situation. I turn my computer on; it boots up to login screen; I put in my password; welcome screen comes up; my desktop and icons load for a second then desktop disappears. The screen goes blank (white like a plain white background or something…it’s not blue or black) with only the cursor. Can't do anything at this point except ctrl-alt-del which takes me to a screen where I can restart. So I F8 on restart to go into safe mode. It went to login screen; I entered my password; welcome screen came up; desktop came up and instantly it started logging off and shutting down and then normal windows starting loading again. It does the same thing in safe mode with networking. I can only access safe mode with command prompt. After researching, I found I could get my safe mode to load by doing the following: F8 on restart; choose safe mode with command prompt; login and wait for admin cmd window to appear; close cmd window; do a ctrl-alt-delete to get to a menu where I could choose task manager; open task manager; go to file; choose new; and type in explorer.exe; and my safe mode desktop appears. Right now that is the only way I can get into my computer.

    I have tried every repair and system restore I could find and I have ran every diagnostic tool I could find and they all finish saying there were no problems or issues or any action needed to be taken. After doing more research, I tried so many different things and nothing helps. I ran SFC/SCANNOW command about 5 different times and it finishes saying: "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations." I have gone into regedit and checked out to see if the correct things were in there according to my research and everything was as it should be. I ran a virus scan and the only thing that came up was a trojan (small. something). I researched to see how to remove it and looked for the files and they weren't there so I figured the anti-virus program removed it. I burned "Windows Defender" to a dvd, however, I cannot load it from the safe mode I am in and I cannot get into safe mode with networking.

    I don't know what to do. This is beyond my knowledge even with all the research I have done the last week and a half.

    I hope this helped to explain things more clearly. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.

    Thank you so very much! I posted these issues separately on the forum because I wasn't sure if it would be considered two different ones.

    Well I don't know much but this might help using Defender off line.

    A quick update to my first post. There is a file "explorer.exe" in Windows 7. I was incorrect about that.

    Alternatively, have you tried Repair Install ? It sounds as though your current installation is corrupt in some way, and this might enable you to fix that without affecting any applications you have installed nor any user accounts.

    If you downloaded Defender Off Line with updates and burnt it to a DVD then all you should have to do is go into bios and set DVD to boot first.
    Once doing that and all works well it might not look like it's working. Just set back for a while and let it run.
    I do it so seldom on my systems I always just follow the Tutorial and it works.

    When I changed bios to DVD and I started my computer with DVD in it...it just tried to load windows and took me to login screen. I logged in and it took me to that blank screen with a white background. Did I do it correctly or should it go to windows and login screen?

    I don't know if I downloaded the correct thing. I went to the website repair install and downloaded the windows defender but there's something about a tool and and iso file. I went to link for iso file and there wasn't any for windows 7 x64 home premium. Not sure exactly what I'm suppose to download and how to use it.

    Sorry, but I'm confused.
