corrupted my USB while trying to put stuff in it

when i put my usb in the computer, a window comes up instantly saying i have to format the drive. when i click format, nothing happens after that. the usb is not accesible on disk management, dos, windows, and all on 4 computers. so i know it isn't just mine. more details on each.

windows: *puts in usb* "You need for format the disk in drive D: before you can use it. Do you want to format it? i click format disk, it takes a minute and then i get an error window. "Windows can't format D check to see that the disk and drive are connected properly, make sure that the disk is not read-only and then try again"

disk management: the system cannot find the file specified when i click on the drive (it shows up and has the correct info, just unallocated)

diskpart: same error as disk management.

    any tips?

Assuming that other devices work OK in the USB port involved, these symptoms would suggest that the USB stick has failed. Unfortunately this does happen and is usually not recoverable. A search of the web may find you a recover lost files from USB stick utility. It may be worth giving a free offering a try, but I would not hold out much hope

Are we talking about a USB floppy drive, I assumed your USB referred to a USB solid state drive, a stick.

It. Is possible of course that the freeze caused the device to fail, but it is just as likely that the failure of the device caused the freeze.

If you are talking about a physical floppy disk drive, these USB drives did use standard components, so a repair may be possible but components for obsolete technology would be hard to find and probably expansive

Try it in a different computer. If you get the same problem there then it's dead.

Have you tried running a Live Linux CD/DVD and using GParted to format it?

Remember Einstein's definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results :)
