    Filename for technet download

I used to subscribe to technet and had a license for Win 7 Ultimate. I am trying to find the file on my hard drive but can't as its not an obvious name.

Anyone know what the file used to be called about 18 months ago?

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Hello Jon,

You should be able to search for *.iso to find all .iso files to help locate it.

    Hope this helps, :)

I've already done that. I see now that iso files are used in technet, but were they always?

They start with a 2 digit code for the country. I use the English version and it is en_windows_7 and so on.

Still can't find anything under that. I wonder if I must have accidentally deleted the file or something.

My Windows downloads from TechNet have always been in an .iso file type.

If you have not already, see if you have your search settings set like in step 2 of the tutorial below, and search all drives with *.iso to see if you may get any search results then.

    fyi,
From what I know MS changed the terms of Technet subscriptions a while ago.
If you use an OS from a current subscription it is only good as long as you keep the subscription current...
So, you will need to re-new the subscription every year...

Someone else here may be able to confirm that, or correct me if I'm wrong.

Does that mean the OS will suddenly time out on me or something?

    That is my understanding.
    That's why I mentioned this.
