If you have the Details pane activated some of this basic properties information can be added without accessing the properties of the files,
Organized on the top left of the explorer window/ Layout/ Details pane.
See if this will save you a few clicks.
    Omg, Facepalm. lol

    Thank you, ThrashZone!

I had no idea that those fields down there at the bottom could be edited!

This makes wonder what other 'hidden' things like this there are... Here I thought I knew Windows 7.

Edit: I was confused by what you meant at first, so here's what I did in order to make it very clear about what we're talking about:

    1. Click "Organize" on the top left inside the folder
    2. Go to "Layout" and then enable "Details pane". You'll know it's enabled when a check mark is next to it.
    3. The details pane is at the bottom of the folder's window and it shows details for any file that you have selected.
    4. Select a media file (left-click it one time)
    5. Hover over some of the details at the bottom and you'll see that they can be edited!

This is a good reminder to me that you really do learn something new every day.

Note: There are still a few things that are in the Details tab that are not shown in the Details pane.

Thanks for all the answers but none of this works on .amr files.
Have you tried Right Clicking the file, clicking on Properties, and then on Details?
If not, you can add a lot of information there, such as the Artist, Title, Genre and Comments.
I know & have been doing this for jpeg image files but the detail tabs doesn't show the same info for .amr files.

Windows Media player neither can play these .amr files nor add them in library even when I added the location in WMP, the only option I have found is a software xnview as of now which lets me add description & comments column but it will only show within xnview not in windows explorer.

Other option is to convert huge amount of files to .mp3 & then organize it which I am avoiding as of now due to numbers of file is in few 1000s

If I remember correctly then both QuickTime and RealPlayer (and possibly VLC media player) can open and play .amr files.
I personally don't like RealPlayer, but if it can play a file, there's a big chance that it can add information to it as well. Do note that I am not completely sure of this.

If you are wanting to edit the info on several thousand files I would use a third party tool if I were you, but I sadly do not use any of those, and so I can't properly advise you there.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Yes there are limitations but for the basics it works very well,
I have not found a way to dictate what is shown,
Nothing relevant comes up in any search I've done,
Possibly Brink will come to the rescue one day :)
