IconViewer Shell Extension
You could install "IconViewer" Shell Extension.
It adds a tab to the "Properties" window. It lets you grab and save icon images from files (it's not restricted to dll files). Here's the link: IconViewer |

I already DID browse to "%SystemRoot%\system32\imageres.dll and %SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll". I did that before I ever posted the first time . . . .says "no preview available". |
