Windows 7: remove "recent locations" from desktop

hmm for some strange reason is the "recent locations" icon is gone from my desktop after i just started up my PC...

so the problem is solved.. dont know how.. but its solved

Removing 'Recent Places' icon from desktop

I sat down at my computer this morning, and "all of a sudden" had an icon on the desktop for 'Recent Places'. I could not delete it, move it to the Recycle Bin, etc (as previously described in this thread). I tried all of the above mentioned methods to no avail. I finally right-clicked and 'Send To' desktop as shortcut. I then deleted the shortcut and viola! The icon was gone. Hope this helps anyone out there having this same issue
