I formatted my laptop - my internet went from 4mb/s to 2kB/s Any help?

I formatted my laptop about 4 days ago, and since then it's speeds have been so slow that a 50mb torrent has an estimated time of 4w 5d left. I have updated every single driver available, including ones not related to internet, things like the display and sound cards. I have reset my BIOS settings, and have scoured the internet left and right and have tried everything said to be done. Please let me know what other information you need to try and help, as any would be greatly appreciated.

Where did you get Ultimate and how is it being activated?

Why are you changing out a bunch of drivers in a driver-complete OS? And what does "formatting" your PC mean? Did you do a Clean Reinstall? Formatting is one tiny step which would be done automatically if you even forgot it.

I suggest you read the Blue link to understand how Win7 is handled at reinstall because it is not at all like XP.

Some more good reading. You could torrent yourself into a nice infection.

Thank you for replying so quickly everyone, I'll try to help as much as I can.
@vaidas3 - it is with everything, I just used torrent speed for an example. I used speedtest.net when I first reset it, and it told me I had 0.03kb download speed, upload being 0.32kb, whereas my usual speeds range from 3.5mb/s to 4mb/s.

@problemshredder - I connect through wifi, nobody uses a direct ethernet cable. I have charter cable as a provider, if that helps.

@gregrocker - I bought this laptop at a Best Buy about a year or two ago. It had Win7 pre-installed. Before I formatted it I made sure to clean it of all viruses with AVG, unfortunately the free version. I shut down my computer for the night and the next morning when I turned it on it blue screened, when I reset it I was asked to do the startup repair process, and when I did I chose the option to restore it to factory setting.

@Layback Bear - Yes, I know that torrenting will get me a virus, but I still do it anyways.

As for additional information I should add that I have done this before because it was so overloaded with junk files and games I never deleted and it worked fine, it deleted everything and cleaned it out like I had hoped it would.

You haven't done a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 yet so I suggest you do one.

If you did the Minimal HP Recovery then that comes close to clean, but keeps the problematic HP Wireless manager so I'd delete all partitions and follow the steps in the blue link to get it perfect.

The HP Recovery install (same as Factory Preinstall) is the worst possible install of Win7 one can have, with the worst load of corrupting bloatware in the industry. So you'll go from the very worst to the very best if you stick with the tools and methods given in the tutorial.
