There was a new War Thunder patch and it was that which threw up the need for new graphics drivers which led to Catalyst being downloaded. I logged into War Thunder again and it downloaded a small patch and since then things have been a lot easier.

Thanks to everyone for the help

When you say things have been easier, does that mean that the problem is now completely resolved?

no problem is still there If you go into fullscreen mode it auto switches back within a few ( < 5 ) seconds, or you lose characters whilst typing in any text box, or drop down/scroll menu disappears

Following is an example of what I get if I don't go back and correct it
Flowing is an exple ofwhat I get if Idont go back corct it

I've got the latest drivers, checked mouse settings, un-installed recent software updates and got the latest Flashplayer for non Internet Explorer. last night there were no problems with it, today every 4-5 seconds

PC was off overnight so problem re-occurred after startup this morning I'm trying to isolate when the problem starts so:
shutdown and restarted PC, used Firefox to load homepage then straight to sevenforums no problems so far.
Opened up Comodo Dragon on my homepage and still all is well.
gone to facebook on Comodo and still no problems
Starting to load the games which anyone in the family use on facebook, still ok.
Closed down Comodo and switched to 2nd Firefox window - still no problems after repeating facebook games in Firefox
left both firefox windows running and loaded War Thunder - still ok
started a 3rd Firefox window and viewed news articles from my home page (Virgin Media - Cable broadband, TV & phone plus mobile broadband & phone) and still no problems.

I'm stumped - I've done more this time since the PC was turned back on than I did earlier today when I had the problem and there is no loss of focus problem so far.

I have to take my daughter out now, I will leave the PC on and check it when I get back.

When you get back .... Try running with out loading War Thunder for a couple of hours .... I still think that could be causing you some problems ..... Just check one thing at a time ... To see if we can pinpoint the issue

Update, the problem has not been resolved. It is intermittent - sometimes no problem at other times losses focus continually every second or so and I can get the problem from start up and when no games (fb or otherwise) have been accessed. I just tried to copy paste a phone number and I must have copied whilst the focus was else because when I paste it has :-

    '[Window Title]
    mscorsvw.exe

    [Main Instruction]
    mscorsvw.exe has stopped working

    [Content]
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...

    [Cancel]'

Do I try microsoft or has anyone seen this before?
mscorsvw.exe relates to .NET framework - i have repaired this from control panel - programs and features, restarted and have the problem from starting Firefox, i'm going to turn off and on then see if problem shows on notepad
