It is obvious to me that your computer is running a task when idle, the problem is finding which one.
You need to have a look at your background task setting (antivirus etc) to see if any run when no activity has been sensed for a while. Also look at task scheduler.

Click on control panel, administrative tools as a good place to start.
You can also click on event viewer in the same place.

Its been a long time since I updated this post.. I felt like there was no way that I could figure out what goes on. So basically:

Since I built my computer (specs listed in my profile) I've had random complete lockups. I've never been able to know fully when, or why it happens, it just does. I can play video games for hours and never get one, I can go weeks without a lockup, or I can experience several while under heavy load or while idle, sometimes multiple times per day.

Several months ago, I did a memtest and I left it overnight, for a little over 9 hours and it detected nothing wrong with my memory. This doesnt completely say its not a memory issue because like I mention above, I can go weeks without experiencing this problem.

I had a crucial SSD, with an updated firmware where I had my install of win7 and a 1TB hard drive. Because my lockup is so random, I thought something was wrong while reading the hard drives. So, I bought a new SSD, and this past saturday, I reformatted and did a clean reinstall of my windows but I disconnected both hard drives and now I'm using a samsung ssd instead. Its brand new, and yet, today, I experienced a complete lockup from my PC.

Also today, after restarting my computer, I decided to exit out of WoW and just the game exited and I returned to the desktop, it froze, but this time, for the first time since this issue started, I got a BSOD! I was not able to attach the .dmp file, so its located here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/f4i77yj47p...51-01.dmp?dl=0

Please, help me decipher this, I just want a fully functional PC!!

My computer is not overclocked, and I believe, since I reformatted just 2 days ago, I have all updated drivers, however, windows updates is still giving me updates sporadically.

Manually check for updates until you are not offered any more.

    For BSOD:
Follow Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions
Make sure the zip file includes the dmp file/s. If not, configure a small memory dump - Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD and wait/trigger another BSOD. then re-run the "Dm log collector" and attach the new report.

Attched is the zip file with the results from the BSOD instructions. I also configured the dump files as instructed on your second link.

Keep in mind that this BSOD may never happen again. This was the first time that I got one, and I've been getting lockups, randomly for a while, and nothing to show for them. This was the first time that it froze and recovered into BSOD... usually it just remains frozen.. until I force a shutdown and then boot up again.

    Alright, I see this:
    Code:
    BugCheck 124, {0, fffffa800dcc0028, be200000, 5110a}
Please read Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try until someone from the BSOD team guide you.

Yeah, I googled it, but I was hoping one of you guys could find out more from your way of gathering files. Because, as it is... this error, from the way I understand it, could just basically mean anything..... which is where I've been stuck since I started getting these random lockups.

I ruled out the HDs because I removed both of them and installed a completely brand new one, and still got the same lockup, randomly.

I just want to know whats wrong so I can go and buy a new one.. lol.

I do notice several errors with WMI on my event viewer, I don't know why those happen, and/or if they are at all related.

This is a swag but if this is a laptop you might try replacing your battery. See my post here: Computer random freeze up -- could it be mouse/keyboard??
