Windows 7: User Account Set to Temporary

20 Jun 2013   #11

Windows 7 Home Premium x64

No. Only way I can get to DOS is to go into Safe Mode with command prompt. Which is how I get to the registry as well. I will just type in the string.

I have something I have to do first, so will get back to you in about an hour.
thanks for sticking with me and helping

What user account are you getting the error message below ?

C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location.

In the User Account you're having an issue with you should see Two Desktop folders . One is empty one has your Desktop icons , Yes ? Delete the empty Desktop folder.

If so do this

Go to C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile Delete the Desktop folder inside that location.

Inside the User Account folder copy the Desktop folder . Right-click on Desktop folder chose Copy

Paste the folder inside C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\

During the Paste it will ask you to overwrite this file desktop.ini file, please do .

Restart the PC and try to login to the problematic account

The error was in the Administrator User. Which is somewhat restricted. I followed your instructions in the last thread. When I rebooted, the error no longer appears, however I still cannot get into the other User Accounts.
Your mentioning the Desktop.ini. being located somewhere else, started me looking harder and the way the folders are set up in explorer do not make sense. I can send you screen shots privately, however that is done. Or type it out and send to you. I am about to break down and
take it into the shop. This is mostly for business, and I am not getting much done. If you want me to relate some of the things that do not look right to me, plus what has transpired that could have possibly brought me to this mess, let me know. I will see what I can put together.

It is late and I am tired and brain dead. Let me know if you want more information.
thank you for all your help.

I have been gone for a few days obviously. However my problem has still not been resolved.

I have tried everything you have suggested, and then some. It has only become worse. I have no Administrator rights to make changes. I cannot even give myself back my admin rights. I cannot logon to the other three use account (which includes the guest.) The error "The User Profile service failed to logon. User Profile cannot be reloaded" is still received.

I cannot get into explorer the normal way. Only by clicking on Start and selecting Administrator, which is a temporary account. The folders are listed as follows:

Desktop (Files - $Recycle Bin - Shortcut 6/11/2013 & Desktop Ini file 6/3/2013)
My Documents (Files - Desktop Ini File dted 11/30/2011 &
wlidsvctrace{DF60E2DF-88AD-4526-AE21-83D130EF0F68} dated 1/29/2013
$Recycle Bin
All the program files (some that are no longer accessible to me)
Users (shared as \\Philomena\Users all rights
All Users (not shared - no rights)
Default User (C:\Users\Default is not accessible: access denied)
etc. etc.
Business (D:)
$Reycle Bin
Music (E:)
$Reycle Bin
Documents (M:)
$Reycle Bin
Photo Album(P:)
$Reycle Bin

This is where is gets really interesting. Under my Network I now have the following:

GoFlex Home Public (\\GOFLEXHOME) (W:)
GoFlex Home Backup (\\GOFLEX_HOME) (X:)
DVD RW Drive (Y)
GoFlex Home Personal (\\GOFLEX_HOME) (Z:)
hp (shared printer)
All Users
Default Users (refers to a location that is not available \\Philomena\Users\Default Users))

I am totally at a loss, and at the point I believe I will have to take it into the shop. Is there not a back door somewhere I can get into to change the UAC's. The UAC is set to always login in with the default administrator. I am unable to turn it off either through a DOS command or the UAC in control panel. I just do not have the rights.

I would appreciate any help from anyone. I really do not want to be without this computer for 2-3 weeks.
thank you for any help you can give me

P.S. If it would help to send screen shots privately, please tell me how.
