My laptop wont allow me to make a new user?

i have a laptop but i only have a guest user because i accidentally deleted the normal one. i tried making a new one. i tried cmd and when i tried it error 5 cam up. i also tried via control panel but it just said this:

"The specified account name is not valid, because account names cannot contain the following characters: /\[]":;<>+=,?*

    Please type a different name"

the name i wrote was new account and i made it a slandered user. the guest account is admin as well. i need help. Please.

The Guest account is never Administator. You must have somehow deleted your Admin account.

Try to System Restore to a point before you deleted the Admin Account. Try creating a new Admin Account without any symbols using a simple name.

If these fail enable Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable - Windows 7 Forums so you can create a new Administator account, then disable the Built-in Admin account again.

If this fails, boot into the Win7 installer or Repair CD to enable Built-in Administrator - Enable from WinRE - Windows 7 Forums so you can use it to create a new Admin account.

Then turn off the Guest account and only use it if you have a Guest who is not allowed to change anything.

If these fail you'll need to Clean Reinstall

    mukz, Welcome to SF.
What Greg means is click on the links provided and follow it's instructions and report back what you find. With luck you won't need to back up and completely re-install the W7 operating system which will wipe the hard drive clean.

    Greg,
    Good sound advice!
What about going into control panel where you can make changes to user account?

Good suggestions Dennis. He said he's having problems in Control Panel>User Accounts but it is worth a try again first to re-create the Admin account he says he deleted.

This time use only a simple name with no characters.

Try also to System Restore to a point before the User Account was deleted.

We are on the same track as my next suggestions was to do a System Restore back to when everything was working.
    Have a great week-end.

Because I have never used a guest account I'm not sure but can a guest account use System Restore?
