Odd New Behavior - Flash Drives Refuse To Eject Unless I Close Firefox

I use flash drives occasionally to move files from my computer to others. Lately, they have been refusing to eject because of the standard pop-up message that 'another program' may be using it. Nothing is using them. By accident I discovered that this message appears if I have Firefox running. Once I close Firefox and then do the 'eject' thing I get the expected 'You May Now Safely Remove ....' message. Why do these things only happen to me?????!!! (oh, ... and how to fix?)

    -thnx
